Washington County Kansas
WashingtonKS.com includes the cities of Barnes, Clifton, Greenleaf, Haddam, Hanover, Hollenberg, Linn, Mahaska, Morrowville, Palmer, Vining and Washington, the County Seat.
Born in the Summer of 2009, this website seeks to encompass all community events, tourist attractions, points of interest, festivals, fundraisers, car shows, parades, cook offs, and even church pot lucks.

Washington County Kansas is best known for it's agriculture. The primary farm crops are feed stock Corn, Wheat, Soybeans, Milo and of course, Kansas Sunflowers.
Beef Livestock ranching and pork production are also a significant industry.
A growing industry in the region is deer, turkey and pheasant hunting.
Some may think we are located in the middle of no where.
Others know we are located in the middle of EVERYWHERE:
90 miles from Lincoln, Nebraska, 70 miles to Manhattan, Kansas, the home of Kansas State University and a major shopping mall. Chicago is just a days drive as is St. Louis, Denver, and Dallas. In fact, the Geographic center of the contiguous United States, although hotly debated, is Lebanon, Kansas, is within an hour's drive.
Branson, Missouri, the entertainment capital of the Midwest is about a 6 hour drive.
Aviators are served by the Washington County Memorial Airport. More Information
Many residents utilize the nearby TWO International Airports, both are within about a 2.5 hour drive: Kansas City (KCI) and Omaha (OMA). KCI is more easily accessible with numerous hotels and restaurants nearby. You can get a world famous steak at the Omaha Airport but it will be frozen. May we remind you to NOT attempt to cook it aboard the aircraft.

No Traffic Lights, NO, NOT ONE . . . yet.
Pie Capital of Kansas, there are more hand made pies within Washington County than any other county in Kansas.
Clifton and Vining share a common border yet are divided by county lines: Washington and Clay Counties.
The County of about 6,000 residents is served by 3 weekly newspapers: Hanover News, Linn-Palmer Record and Washington County News.
In each successive census since 1900, the population has declined. In 1900, the population was 21,963, in 2000 the census was 6,483.
